Bible verses for birthdays: for a child, a friend, a parent or a milestone birthday later in life. The list includes verses of blessing, thanksgiving and trust, such as Numbers 6:24–26, Psalm 118:24 and Lamentations 3:22–23, and verses about growing older, such as Isaiah 46:4 and Psalm 92:14.

Writing a birthday card

A verse on a birthday card works best when it is short and suits the person: their age, their faith and your relationship. For a milestone birthday, people often choose a verse that looks back on the years behind or asks for blessing on the years ahead. Read the verse in its chapter before you send it: Psalm 90, for example, is often quoted on birthdays, but it is also a reflection on how short life is. The card maker turns a verse into an image to send or print.
